4.1. Second shoot

This shoot happened just one day after the meeting with Francisco. From it we concluded that we had to take into consideration the ups and lows on the intensity of the piece, which is something we had not considered before. Also, he was positively amused by the lighting we used and so, we decided to stick to it. The shooting went well, we re-shooted some of the clips from the first shoot and spontaneously made certain decisions about things we had not gone through before, like costume and how it was important for certain scenes. For example, Pat was wearing a white vest we decided to keep, he looked good in it and it fitted the "angry Italian" image we had of him. Thinking back, maybe this was slightly stereotypical. Rebant, however, had to change. He would wear a jumper around his neck, that later on would be used so Pat could aggressively snatch it out of him. Later on the films, they would both grabs some jackets. Personally, I think this shooting was not as productive as other shoots. Even though I knew we wanted to take the action our of the lounge, we did not manage to shoot a lot apart from that. I think that what we shot that day was too conservative and passive for the tone of the music composition.

Also we were struggling to come up with a beginning and ending for the film. The original idea was for them to be talking before the fight unraveled, but them talking for approximately 2min would be extremely boring and static. For the ending, I wanted to go into the extremes. I thought it'd have been interesting to include death or blood or clear injuries. All of it marked into an ambiguous ending, rationality and logic were not the things I thought about when I first heard Hyperludes. It was difficult though, because a lot of the ideas I had were polemical and included a level of acting and stunts that we could not manage. Maybe this is downsizing ourselves instead of just trying, but since the beginning my only objective was to achieve a good result, even if it wasn't the most extreme or perfected, and in order to achieve a good result with limited knowledge we had to know our limits and have just the right amount of ambition.

While shooting, the idea of including blood was put on the table. I had been thinking about it for a while so I asked for my group's opinion. Plus we could made it ourselves with some red food colorant and flour and therefore, there will be no waste or unnecessary usage of materials.
