2.3. Reflection after shoot

After the shoot and before the meeting with our composer, Francisco Coll, we managed to have a 1min clip. Sophie, who edited it, mixed it up with another clip she had filmed before we were allocated in groups, therefore the stills of the girl. Although the first group shooting was good to find out that we actually vibe quite well and are able to work together, it was slightly disappointing because we were not able to achieve footage that was coherent once put together. The video was bland and it lacked momentum. Obviously, this was just the first test shoot, and looking on the bright side, we did manage to find an aesthetic style we liked.

Thinking further into how we could made the film better was not easy. I think we were all trying to find a theme, a point to all of it, an ending, but we were not finding any answers. As I mentioned, we wanted two characters, during the shooting while we improvised we concluded that instead of just talking they could be having a fight. So we were clear on something: there was going to be a fight scene. That was helpful. The main questions for us were: who and why? Pat, because of his looks was coined as Angry-Italian. Rebant was just Rebant. Why would they have a fight? Why would two people have a fight? For obvious reason: alcohol, love and pride. Maybe pleasure, like in Fight Club? Maybe Angry-Italian and Rebant have an unfinished business. Maybe they are lovers? Are they fighting because of someone else? There were many questions and to be honest, we had no answers.
